Reduction of Train Speed Within Platform Limits
This recommended action is to address two primary concerns – station platform overruns and individuals on the trackbed
Recommend WMATA modify speed couplers within ALL platform limits to the SLOW setting thereby restricting trains to speeds no greater than 15 MPH while entering station platforms. Current speed limitations within the majority of platform limits is 50 MPH with a manual restriction of 25 MPH for trains passing through stations without stopping.
